Skardu → Shigar → Askole

This route extends from Shigar Valley toward Askole and Jhola, marking the final road-accessible points before trekking routes into the Baltoro Glacier region and K2 base camp. The terrain becomes progressively rougher, with jeep tracks replacing paved road for much of the later stretch. This route is only reliably accessible in summer months and is primarily used by trekking expeditions rather than general tourism, given its remoteness and limited services along the way. Checking current conditions before departure is essential, as this stretch is among the most isolated in the region.
