K2 trailhead road

This route connects Skardu to Shigar Valley and continues to Askole, the last road-accessible village before trekking routes into the Karakoram's highest peaks, including K2. The drive to Shigar takes about an hour, with the continuation to Askole taking several more hours over increasingly rough terrain. The Askole stretch is a rugged jeep track rather than a paved road, and is only reliably accessible in summer. This route is primarily used by trekkers and expedition teams heading into the Baltoro region, so checking current conditions before departure is essential given the remoteness.
