Karimabad → Sost → China border

This route continues north from Hunza through Sost (Pakistan's northernmost dry port and border town) to the Khunjerab Pass, the highest paved international border crossing in the world, connecting Pakistan to China. The drive from Karimabad to Khunjerab takes roughly 2-2.5 hours. This route is well-maintained as part of the Karakoram Highway system, but is subject to seasonal closure at the border itself, and can experience weather-related restrictions at the pass (over 4,700 meters) even when lower sections remain open. Travelers should confirm current pass status, especially outside peak summer months.
