Gilgit — Skardu Road

Open

The Gilgit-Skardu road links Gilgit city to Skardu, the gateway to K2, Deosai National Park, and Baltistan's major attractions. The route covers roughly 200 km and takes approximately 6-7 hours, passing through Jaglot and following the Indus River valley. Recent road improvements connecting Skardu directly to the Karakoram Highway have significantly reduced travel times compared to previous years. This road can experience delays due to landslides, particularly during monsoon season, and occasional construction work along the Sassi-Skardu stretch. Travelers heading to Deosai or Shigar Valley typically use Skardu as their base after this drive.
